JEFFERSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
TRIVIA NIGHT AT NEW BASIN
Break out your Kentucky Derby hats — or just any old hat — for the Jefferson County Historical Society’s next Trivia Night on Wednesday, April 29, just a few days before the annual horse race on Churchill Downs on May 2. Trivia Night will begin at 6 p.m. at New Basin Distilling Co. The event, which costs $5 per person, helps raise funds for the historical society’s museum plans. Last year, JCHS purchased the historic Methodist Church, at 164 SE D St., to house its future museum; the organization is in the process of preparing the old church for that purpose. Trivia Night participants can form their own teams or join others for the event, which also includes a 50-50 fundraiser. New Basin is located at 2063 NW Andrews Drive in Madras.
COWSILLS CONCERT TO BENEFIT JCHS
Members of the well-known family band, The Cowsills, will perform a benefit concert for the Jefferson County Historical Society’s museum project on Saturday, April 11. Three Cowsill siblings, Bob, Paul and Susan, will perform at the Madras Performing Arts Center and be available to meet with concert-goers after the 7 p.m. concert. The band had major hits, including “Hair,” “The Rain, The Park, and Other Things,” and “Indian Lake,” in the late 1960s, and inspired the popular television show, “The Partridge Family.” Tickets, priced at $50 and $100, will be available at the Madras Pioneer office at 35 SE C St., from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, or online at www.Zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/the-cowsills-benefit-concert until sold-out.
