TRIVIA NIGHT AT NEW BASIN

This month, the Jefferson County Historical Society’s fundraising Trivia Night will be Wednesday, June 25, at 6 p.m. at New Basin Distilling Co. The event which costs $5 per person, helps raise funds for the historical society. Participants can form their own teams or join others for the event, which also includes a 50-50 fundraiser. New Basin is located at 2063 NW Andrews Drive in Madras.
 

HISTORY PUB TO FEATURE MOVIES

“Let’s Go to the Movies” will be the topic of the Jefferson County Historical Society’s next History Pub on Wednesday, June 18, at New Basin Distilling Co. Madras resident Diane Piercy Green, whose family operated the former Chief Theater and local drive-in, will speak about the history of her family’s business. Social hour will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the presentation at 6 p.m. There is no charge for the event, although contributions for the historical society’s museum are encouraged. Two food trucks will be on site at New Basin, which is located at 2063 NW Andrews Drive in Madras.
 

TOUR HOMESTEAD AT FAIR

Take a tour of the Jefferson County Historical Society’s homestead house and schoolhouse at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds during the fair, Wednesday through Saturday, July 23-26, from 1-3 p.m. Board members will be on hand to give visitors a ride in an antique car to the homestead, on the west side of the fairgrounds, where they can walk through the historic Farrell house, and the old schoolhouse.
 

OLD-TIME THRESHING BEE

The Jefferson County Historical Society’s annual threshing bee, which is free and open to the public, is set for the weekend of Sept. 13 and 14,  at Casad Family Farm on Elm Lane, north of Madras. Mark the date; more will be posted as more information becomes available.
